Are you going to add Intel 7260 AC WiFi card to X230's BIOS whitelist?

2014-03-10, 9:23 AM

Are you going to add Intel 7260 AC  WiFi card to X230's BIOS whitelist in the future?

I'm thinking about upgrading my wifi-card to an Intel AC card.

Thank you.

I'd like to see the bios updated as well!  Thanks Lenovo!

Presently Lenovo Regulatory Notes list consists wifi adapters with AC specification support in the m.2 formfactor only, for the new laptops line on Haswell. Do conclusions yourself. ;)

Thanks x220forMe --- just bacause Lenovo CAN keep their bios locked doesn't make it right.  It's the sort of thing that could get a very loyal customer.... who has purchased, like a dozen Thinkpads, to...... I don't know... maybe start looking at something else?   That could easily happen.   The 7260 card shows as supported in the device driver update for MONTHS.  It's JUST the whitelist that keeps it from functioning.   Oooops.... gotta take care.... if I think about it to much, this once loyal customer starts getting a little impatient... right on the edge of angry.   Guys -- do the right thing.  Make this happen.

I'm also waiting for this to happen.

One of the best parts about Thinkpads was how modular / serviceable they are.

Something like a whitelist in the BIOS is an artificial limitation for this hardware. The card would would fine and all that needs to happen is a small update.

Incredibly frustrating.

Two years on, they've not even bothered.

To be honest, why should I be bothered? I have a wireless card that is absolute garbage and I am desperate to change it. No I do not wish to actually get a USB dongle, as I already have one and having it stick out like a sore thumb is very unappealing.

Add the 7260 back, like you guys did before because the X230 is not dead yet.

In my opinion, this won't happen. But you can used a custom BiOS with whitelist removed, works great on my x220.
