Different approach http://www.pcworld.com/article/2109141/dell-replacing-displays-on-xps-12-hybrids-with-burn-in-issues.html ?

"no other choice" - we know the component is faulty but we sell it to you for premium price :smileymad:

Dell uses the same LG displays. This is exactly the same problem - and Lenovo is also exchanging the faulty screens with the new revisions on warranty.

Do you have link to such statement from Lenovo ? Because "the others do that" is not relevant since the NVidia video chip failure fiasco.

This thread is about the ThinkPad Yoga, but the X240 uses the same display, see:

Thanks. It is time to clarify it for X240 as well.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't care less whether my display is touch or not, but I would like one without the ghosting problem. Is this an acknowledged problem by lenovo in the U.S., or am I going to have to fight with them to get the new FRU?

Phositadc,

Could you send me a private message with your contact info - name, best phone to reach you, and also the type and serial on the bottom of your unit?

I'd like to look into this ..

Mark

Betreff: Bad ghosting / image retention on X240

2014-08-19, 18:51 PM

I bought my X240 a few months ago and it also has very strong ghosting - which is getting worse day by day. Especially during development this is getting annoying, as the project tree view of my ide stays visible when switching windows.

Is this a known hardware problem, which will be fixed by Lenovo?

Re: Bad ghosting / image retention on X240

I bought my X240 back in February.  I noticed the ghosting a couple months ago, but it's getting more and more severe.  I'm not looking forward to sending my laptop back for repair and waiting who knows how long for a fix.  From reading other threads about this same problem with the Yoga, it appears wait times for repair are excessively long.  Anyone know if I can simply return it for a refund?  I'd probably just buy a T series with a bigger screen and hopefully no ghosting issues.

Does anybody know if having an OnSite warranty will enable Lenovo to come to me and replace the screen at my office?

I do not currently have OnSite, but I see that I can upgrade to it for $19. Well worth the $19 to have somebody come to me to replace the screen rather than requiring me to ship it off and then wait potentially weeks to get it back.
