Battery at 0%, can't apply Thunderbolt update (Thinkpad Carbon X1 6th gen)

2020-10-14, 0:05 AM

I have a Thinkpad Carbon X1 6th gen and the battery is always at 0%, the laptop won't boot unless plugged.

I have been having some issues with HDMI also and I know it's all related to the same issue:

However I cannot apply the firmware update becase the firmware refuses to install with the battery below 25% charge.

So I'm stuck, I need to update the firmware to solve the battery problem and I need to fix the battery to upgrade the firmware.

Is there a way to force the firmware installation with the batter below 25%? Is it safe?

Is there any other workaround for this?

Has anybody managed to solve this?
