Battery or PowerBank Lenovo Extreme X1

Hi,

I'm looking for an internal battery for lenovo laptop Extreme X1 (20MFCTO1WW ).

Or better I look for a PowerBank compatible with Thinkpad Extreme X1.

Thank you!

Re: Battery or PowerBank Lenovo Extreme X1

Per the Options Compatibility Matrix, the answer is no, that is not OK for the ThinkPad X1 Extreme.

The Lenovo USB-C Laptop Power Bank 40AL140CWW or 40AL140CTW support systems with 45W or 65W AC power adapters.

The spec X1 Exreme spec says it needs at least 135W. That's what you have to look for when searching for a power bank - that it outputs enough power.

Re: Battery or PowerBank Lenovo Extreme X1

You're asking a lot. The biggest USB-C power bank I'm aware of is a kickstarter, and I have no idea if 100W is sufficient for and if it works with the X1 Extreme. I have no affiliation with them.

Keep in mind also that the USB-C Power Delivery (PD) standard maxes out at 100W (5VDC at 20A.) If the X1 Extreme requires more than that, which would be why the 135W is in the specs, then no current  USB-C PD power bank, even if Lenovo were to offer it, would work.

Welje2 could could try running the X1 Extreme on a 90W slim tip AC charger.  If that's enough to power the system and recharge the battery in a reasonable amount of time then likely a 100W USB-C PD power bank would work as well.

Re: Battery or PowerBank Lenovo Extreme X1

Thanks ! Ok so the easiest way would be to find an internal battery.

But Lenovo does not sell on its site and I do not find any other?

Re: Battery or PowerBank Lenovo Extreme X1

It's actually not true that the X1 Extreme "requires" a 135W power source to charge. I believe the spec says it needs a minimum of 45W via the slim power connector or 65W via a USB-C port. I don't have the actual reference at the moment so I can't actually quote  directly. I can tell you, however, that as I type this, I am charging my X1 Extreme from a 45W (20V x 2.25A) Lenovo power supply from an older Lenovo laptop.

That said, at 45W it's only offsetting battery drain while I browse the web and write this response so a power supply / battery that only supplies 45W is not going to get you very far.

Cheers.

Re: Battery or PowerBank Lenovo Extreme X1

Having investigated the same for the X1 Extreme I'd suggest it is suitable, check out this official Lenovo training video and the laptop being used to demostrate the power bank:

I've ordered one on the back of this having failed to charge using the Anker IQ USB C charger.
