Oh, another question... when looking at the Patriot Ram in the link I posted, why does it say it's for Mac products?

Will this Ram work on the X220?

Thankfully, if it is narrowly compatible for the Mac, it has a high probabllity of working for the rest of the worlds systems.

I have had a consistently good experience with Samsung RAM, and highly recommend it.

Well... I never knew Mac owners were "lame"... I wonder how they keep multiplyin :smileyvery-happy:

I'd better wait on Crucial to get their 16 gig kit in stock... I've heard good stuff about them concerning Ram.
At least they are a name brand that does just Ram, right?

Doesn't Corsair make good ram sticks?

I've heard of the brand, but haven't heard if they are reliable or not.

What about this...
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Laptop-1600MHz-CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10/dp/B0076W9Q5A/ref=pd_cp_pc_0

Will these automatically overclock your X220 system as they state?

Or, should I stay with
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Channel-SODIMM-Memory-CMSO16GX3M2A1333C9/dp/B006DI9PG8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1346829658&sr=8-4&keywords=crucial+16gig+PC3-10600+DDR3+SDRAM

Which appears to be more of a stock option (no overclocking?)

Just wanted to see what the resident experts think of these two options...

I don't think the Vengeance is worth the extra $. You probably won't notice the difference in speed.

Vengeance offers no better performance at all?

A few extra $$ is not an issue, but if there is zero benefit why do they advertise that there is I wonder?

Seems like this would be a better performance option...

Re: Best brand of Ram???

My X220 (4287) is now carrying 16GB RAM, CT2KIT102464BF1339.  No hiccup, nothing.

I have it on responsible authority that the Intel-Micron joint venture in Utah manufactures some of the best memory in the world.  Intel uses choice wafers for its SSDs and in other applications.  Micron markets through the Crucial name.  Crucial is my first choice for memory upgrades.  No doubt there are other good choices out there for those who overclock.  Me, I'm really happy with my X220 as it now is.  This is the finest laptop I've ever owned.

X220 4287 I7 16GB Crucial CT2KIT102464BF1339, 128 GB SSD, Win7 Pro 64-bit.

Two M91p tower desktops, both 7052, I7 and I5, Win7 Pro 64-bit.

T61 14" widescreen (new in 2008), 3GB RAM, 640GB HD, originally with XP Pro, now with Win7 32-bit Pro.

Yes, and unfortunately... Crucial 16gig kits are unavailable...

Anybody know of any alternate suppliers that sell Crucial other than... Crucial?

And, are you sure it's not made in China and sent to Utah for packaging er somethin?
