Black Screen Problem Lenovo ThinkPad X131e

I own a Lenovo ThinkPad X131e and recently the screen has become non-functional. The screen still lights up and everything else still works perfectly fine when I use an external monitor.


The screen itself is not cracked and does not appear to be damaged, and if possible I don't want to have to buy a new screen. The problem is nothing is displayed onto the screen.


The problem appears to be with left side where the screen is attached to the computer, however I took a little peak inside and the wire attaching the screen looks perfectly fine, only visible problem is the actual hinge (or whatever you want to call it) has snapped..


Obviously this would cause minor nuisenses such as the screen falling forward but I don't see how this could effect the display on the screen.


Any ideas on how to fix this?

I’m really sorry to hear that display in your Lenovo Thinkpad X131e is not functioning properly.


Have u tried to switch between computer display and external display using the FN+F7 combination?


Do a power drain! Unplug the power cable, remove the battery and then hold the power button for 30 to 60 seconds. Then reattach the power and attempt a boot.


Also, try updating your display drivers and see if it works.

Below is the link to enter downloads page and install the display driver.

Please click on "QUICK PATH”, enter X131e and select the exact model depending on the MTM number of your device.


If all the above said attempts fail, it could be an issue with the hardware (Possibly LCD screen, an inverter, cable or LCD back-light). I strongly suggest you to contact our technical support for assistance.

Look at the connection where the LCD Cable and LCD meet. It might be slightly out on right side. You can push it back in and see if that helps. If it does I would take the tape off and reseat the LCD cable still using the tape, but make it go a little furthur down than what they did so it's held in tighter. Then I use packing tape over the orginal tape to secure the cable better so it doesn't come loose again.


I've had over 50 machines have all black or white screens this year and all because they didn't put the tape furthur down then what it was. So, I had to do what I just told you and reseat the cable and secure it better so it doesn't come out again.
