Black Screen when booting with Dock

2019-03-18, 8:05 AM

Hi all,

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 20FB-003TSP connected to the ThinkPad OneLink + Dock.

The problem is when booting, if the dock and the laptop are connected, the screen goes black.

If I remove the dock and turn on the laptop then it shows the boot screen, and then I can perfectly connect the dock that already works, but when booting no.

I updated the Dock drivers in case it was a problem and it remains the same.

Any solution?

Thank you!

Did you solve this issue? I'm having an exactly same issue. X1E GEN 3 + LENOVO Thunderbolt dock gen 2.

I tried different BIOS settings  - no security + pre-boot ACL or no security + Pre-boot environment to "enabled", but not worked.

I have to boot with the dock disconnected and connect the dock after booting.

Anyone having a same issue?

Wouldn't setting 1st boot device to hard drive fix this?

Thank you Julian88 for your kind reply,

I just tried it; changing 1st boot device from windows boot manager to SSD, but it didn't work.

Followings are the other trials, which didn't work.

  1. "Boot time extension" from "disabled" to "2 seconds" and "3 seconds"
  2. "Boot mode" from "quick" to "diagnostics"

Many times, it works right after I change some BIOS setting, but it doesn't from second booting.
