Bluetooth keeps disconnecting.

2017-06-26, 16:02 PM

I am using X240 and it connects to my microsoft design keyboard and mouse thru bluebooth. It works well for more than 1 year. but recently it keeps dropping off. I tried

1/ restart my computer

2/ reconnect both my keyboard and mouse

3/ update my bluetooth driver

4/ uninstall the driver for my desinger mouse/ keyboard

every nite it keeps dropping off for more than 2 times - sometimes keyboard works, but mouse not work, sometimes the other way around. sometimes both not working ... it is so annoying. When i click on bluebooth setting - it shows "paired" but "not connected". Sometimes the whole bluebooth icon disappear

can anyone help? Many thanks!

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Which Windows version do you have? I don't have your configuration, the obvoius first thing will be to check on the batteries of the keyboard just in case.

But since you also say that the bluetooth icon also dissapear from Windows maybe you can give it a try re-installing the Intel Bluetooth driver.

If you are using Windows 10 I always recommend installing "Lenovo Companion" to help you keeping your drivers up to date.

Re: Bluetooth keeps disconnecting.

Hello, I also have this problem on my X240. I installed the most recent Windows Updates, driver and BIOS updates from Lenovo Vantage, I also reinstalled Bluetooth driver from link that was mentioned but unfortunately nothing helped. Bluetooth still restarts randomly (but most often if CPU is on high usage) and reconnects all connected devices. Any other solutions?

I am using Windows 10 version 1909.

Thanks.

I already fixed my issue. You have to go into Device manager (Win+R -> devmgmt.msc), select category Bluetooth, then right click on Intel Wireless Bluetooth and select Properties. In this window go to Power Management tab and uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power  (by default it was checked), then click OK.

This post looked promising because I tried everything previously posted and this was not something I'd tried yet.  So I right clicked on the Bluetooth device but there was no power management tab; only "General, Advanced, Driver, Details & Events", none of which have a power mamangement boxes to check/uncheck.  What to I do now?
