Boot X1 Carbon 5th Gen using Ubuntu on MicroSD card

I would like to be able to boot my X1 Carbon 2017 5th Gen using Ubuntu installed on a microSD card.  I've spent time trying to figure this out and googling, but haven't been successful.  I would prefer this rather than Ubuntu on a USB stick for battery savings as well as covenience.  Any ideas or suggestions on how I can make this work?

Re: Boot X1 Carbon 5th Gen using Ubuntu on MicroSD card

Good day.

This question comes up from time to time. In each case, the conclusion is that it's not possible due to the way the internal card slot interfaces with the system.

If you'd like to scan through other members' experiences, you could use the search box on the upper right with: "boot sd card" for key words. A good number of suggested threads were shown when I tried just now.
