Can I add a NVMe - M.2 SSD to Thinkpad x1 Extreme?

2018-12-30, 20:02 PM

I have a Thinkpad X1 Extreme (20MFX002US) on order.  It has one of the two M.2 SSD bays not used.  I was hoping I could add a second drive.  They are expensive so I thought I'd better check first to see if it will work in this machine before I order it.  I am NOT doing RAID with the second drive.  I just want the machine to recognize it for added storage.  This is running Windows 10.  Here is the drive I was considering:

Samsung 970 PRO Series - 1TB PCIe NVMe - M.2

That should be fine.  Whenever you buy non-Lenovo parts (especially expensive ones) always confirm the seller's return policy.
