Can I have a WWAN-Card in this Notebook?

Hello, I have a ThinkPad Carbon X1 2nd Generation, either 20a8 or 20a7. It is the 2560x1440 i5-4200 non touch. It does not have a WWAN-modem I believe. The slot is empty. Can I buy one and install it? If this is possbile how would I proceed in order to be able to access the internet? Would I buy a SIM-card and put it into that strange slot in the rear of the base unit? This looks pretty unusable. Would I have to purchase s SIM-card reader as well? Thanks for ansers

Re: Can I have a WWAN-Card in this Notebook?

First, see if you have the needed antenna wires.  There should be a red and a blue wire going to the slot.  According to my documentation, the cards available are the following:

1)  04W3842  Ericsson N5321 HSPA+

2) 04X6014  Sierra EM7345 LTE/HSPA+

3)  04X6038  Sierra Gobi5000 EM7355 LTE/EVDO/HSPA+

Talk to your wireless carrier.  See which they support or recommend.  They can provide a SIM card and an adapter if needed.
