Can I put a Samsung 970 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD in a X1 Yoga Gen 1?

2018-05-08, 22:47 PM

Can I replace the existing SSD in my  Thnkpad X1 Yoga 1st Gen (Model 20FRS2KG00) with this new Samsung Drive ?

SAMSUNG 970 PRO M.2 2280 512GB PCIe Gen3. X4, NVMe 1.3 64L V-NAND MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V7P512BW

Thanks!

I don't know about an X1 Yoga, but I have a P40 Yoga that only accepts half-highth M.2 SSD cards, i.e. 2242 vs. 2280.  It didn't give me the storage capacity that I wanted, but that was a few years ago and someone may offer a larger 1TB size now.

FYI 960 PRO 2TB works fine in X1Y2. Not sure about 970 PRO in X1Y1 though.
