Can't VPN with Gobi2000 Mobile Broadband Device 9205

2010-10-22, 10:08 AM

We have a  Lenovo Thinkpad X201 with the Gobi Mobile Broadband on Windows 7 64 bit that will not work with the Cisco VPN Client. It will connect and get an address from the Cisco PIX firewall, but it will not ping anything inside the firewall. Anyone have any ideas?

Unfortunately, Cisco VPN isn;t supported over WAN with Win7.

From the release notes:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/vpn_client/cisco_vpn_client/vpn_client5007/release/notes/vpnclient5007.html

New Features

VPN Client 5.0.07 features the following:

•Support for Windows 7 on x64 (64-bit). This release, however, does not support WWAN devices (also called wireless data cards) on Windows 7 x86 (32-bit) and x64.

and later on...

The VPN Client on Windows 7 does not support WWAN devices (also called wireless data cards).
