The connection is actually pretty good, especially in train tunnels where my phone cuts out completely. It's not perfect reception but it serves my purposes nicely.
The install is fairly involved but I'd say it's easier than repairing an iPad screen or performing soldering work.
As for the parts:

Another successful LTE antenna upgrade here. Quite involved installation, but totally doable with the necessary care and patience. Get yourself a guitar pick for opening that LCD assembly (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_pick). Nice tool for repairs in general.
LTE is working; however, right now it's producing bluescreens during heavy use: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Yoga-3rd-Gen-Crash-on-LTE-Fibocom-L850-GL-...

Happy New Year to all,
just finalized the installation of the antenna today. WWAN is working excelent. Being careful during the install and reading the Lenovo manual makes it easy. Took in total 2 hours due to the touchpad cable got loose again and had to be refixed..

Happy to hear that there are so many successful instalations. I've already received my antena, now I am just waiting on the Foxcomm to do the installation myself.
Has there been any updates on the Bluescreen issues? Is there at least a work-around to prevent the WWAN from reaching full speed and inducing a bluescreen?

Also chiming in, sounds great that there might be a way!
Has anybody with the following configuration successfully added it?
- X1 3rd Gen Yoga
- With IR Camera
- Standard 14' FHD IPS screen (1920 x 1080)
- No camera shutter (ThinkShutter)
Would appreciate if anybody could confirm, before i splurge on the parts =)

So I just added a WWAN card (Fibocom L850-GL (FRU 01AX792)) to the X1 Yoga 3rd Gen, but the typically "pre-installed" Antenna is not pre installed, I guess next year the Sim slot won't be there if you don't buy it out the door with it.
Does anyone know the Lenovo FU... i mean FRU... Part number for the WWAN Antenna for (Fibocom L850-GL (FRU 01AX792)) These connectors are tiny.

From looking at the parts list for your system, there are two FRU numbers 01AY958 or 01AY957 (two manufacturers) for the WWAN antenna kits. It looks like the kits includes both the WWAN and WLAN components, so I guess you just use what you need.
01AY958 Antenna Wwanwlan Jtwnc Lrv3 appears to be in stock with Lenovo Encompass Parts.

Thank for you reply, do you know the difference between WNC or JT.
I ask because i noticed the connectors on the WWAN Card is small than previous cards i've seen and I can't find any information on the connector size on either the card or the antenna and i'm wondering if WNC or JT is referencing this.
01AY958 = Antenna,WLAN+WWAN,WNC+JT
or does it not matter as it may only pertain to the WLAN which i don't need, I make this statement because i see this on the parts list as well
01AY955 = Antenna,WLAN,JT
01AY956 = Antenna,WLAN,WNC
So does this mean WWAN is JT only and either 01AY958 or 957 will work?

Lenovo FRU descriptions are cryptic and hard to decode, but from what I can decipher from the images the parts, the 01AY955 and 01AY956 FRUs are just WLAN (WiFi) antenna parts and do not include the WWAN antennas as shown in the images below.
The 01AY957 and 01AY958 are basically the same kits that include the WiFi and WWAN (LTE) antennas. The WNC (??) and JT (Jieng Tai) portion of the description just indicates the manufacturers of the components, so on the the 01AY957 they are a mix of WNC and JT parts, and on the 01AY958 they are all made by by JT (Jieng Tai), and you can actually see that in the images below.
I hope that helps....
