Caps lock on screen display after sleep or hibernation?

Hello, I just got a lenovo carbon x1 and when the computer comes out of hibernation or sleep a symbol that says the caps lock is off appears on the screen for a few seconds. How do I stop it from telling me the caps lock is off after waking it up from sleep or hibernation? thanks

Re: Caps lock on screen display after sleep or hibernation?

Hi Michaelalex17,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

  • It is a default setting which shows the “Caps OFF” for a few seconds, because there is an option to show always or show for a few seconds, we cannot disable the individual on-screen popup display.
  • If you are looking for the setting. You can go to graphic properties to change, right click on the desktop and go to screen resolution – Advance settings – click on On-screen display tab and make the changes for your convenient.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Re: Caps lock on screen display after sleep or hibernation?

Hi Michaelalex17,

Thank you for the reply!

This could be issue with drivers or with hotkey application; I suggest you to check with updating all the drivers and application from ThinkVantage system update utility. This might resolve the issue.

Hope this helps!!!

Re: Caps lock on screen display after sleep or hibernation?

Hi Michaelalex17,

I am sorry to hear that the issue still persists in your system; you can check with uninstalling the power manager application from the system and check it once. If the issue still persists then you have to check with reinstalling of OS.

Hope this helps!!!

Re: Caps lock on screen display after sleep or hibernation?

Ok so a new power management driver came out on 4/23. The Lenovo Thinkvantage software didnt tell me there was a new driver update. If you didnt tell me to check on the power management driver I never would have known to download the newest driver from the website. There are litterally hundreds of drivers listed when i go to lenovo drivers update online and type in carbon x1. there has to be a more efficient way to update the drivers on the lenovo laptop?

Re: Caps lock on screen display after sleep or hibernation?

for example, under the chipset section there is a driver for the intel manegement engine that says:
10.0.38.1036

in my device manager it says intel management engine driver is: 10.0.30.1054

my thinkvantage doesnt list this chipset as something that needs to be updated. why is it not telling me there are newer drivers to install?

Chipset
Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Re: Caps lock on screen display after sleep or hibernation?

Hi Michaelalex17,

I think maybe ThinkVantage system update utility must be outdated or might be windows has updated latest version of generic drivers that’s why ThinkVantage system update is not able to recognize the latest drivers from Lenovo support site.

Re: Caps lock on screen display after sleep or hibernation?

I have thinkvantage version 5.06.0034 which is the latest version. It seems like going through each section of drivers online would take a lottttt of time. should i download that chipset even though it doesnt say anything about it in thinkvantage?
