Carbon x1 gen 4 fingerprint reader problem

So I just got back my laptop from lenovo repairs and the finger print reader dosen't work.

the device manager has dected the fingerprint reader, and claims it is working properly.

I also went into the bios and cleared the fingerprint data.  It doesn't change the problem

when I go to set up the fingerprint, I enter my pin and then I get a windows error sound.  the deep "da dah dah".  and then it doesn't proceed any further.

I have no idea what to do next for my laptop.

What was the laptop sent into repairs for? Also you did not mention that your TrackPoint is not working.

Re: Carbon x1 gen 4 fingerprint reader problem

Yeah, clearly I have a mess of a problem with my laptop.  I've just been calling almost daily with tech support and what not and I keep getting transfered to numbers that don't answer.  I still haven't written off trying to fix it myself, but the orginal problem was my trackpoint would drift, like do laps around my computer screen.  that was the orignal problem.  when I got back my laptop, the trackpoint still is problematic and now the fingerprint scanner doesn't work.

te worst part is that since it took so long for the laptop to be returned to me, it's out of waranty (both times it took close to 6 weeks for the repairs to be completed).

Edit:  I've posted this problem multiple times in multiple places, so sorry for the confusion.

Re: Carbon x1 gen 4 fingerprint reader problem

So I was fed up and decided to reset my computer, back to scratch.

the fingerprint scanner is now working, the trackpoint is still problematic.

Re: Carbon x1 gen 4 fingerprint reader problem

The track points drifts all around and does not ever stop? It is supposed to occasionally drift to the side for about 6 seconds to re calibrate.
