Carbon x1 gen 4 fingerprint reader problem

2018-04-27, 18:13 PM

I own two 1st gen X1 Carbon, one 3440 and one 3460. One has Win10 Home and works just fine. the 3460 has Win10 Pro and the fingerprint reader does not show up as a biometric device and I cannot make it work after searching for solutions.

There are no biometric devices in device manager.

There is only an authentication device - TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor.

Does anyone know how to test the fingerprint hardware to ensure that it is working? I have tried all the solutions listed online and it never shows up.

First, look in the BIOS under security/I-O port access and make sure it is enabled

I have tried that and it is enabled.

My X1 Carbon is 1st gen. Do you know if it is possible to use the fingerprint reader in Win10 Pro? It works on my other computer with Windows 10 Home.
