Compatible WWAN card for X270

2018-09-04, 12:30 PM

Hi, I have a x270 with model #20HNCTO1WW

Could anyone tell me which WWAN card should I purchase to install on this machine. I'm looking at EM7455 but not sure if it's compatible and which exact FRU should I get.

Thanks in advance :)

If the card isn't a fake it should work. Usually such faked cards are more (significantly) cheaper than original one. Or the seller claims "it's not exactly you're loking for, it's compatible". Do not trust for that. ) At worst the card could be recognized and verified very simply by its USB IDs. I'll help you if this will be needed.

Do not buy the card em7430 without Lenovo p/ns (have a look above).

As the card em7430 is positioned for APAC region, it's not selling on Lenovo US stores, its availability depends on the store's country.

http://accsmartfind.lenovo.com doesn't list it for Singapore. So, you might search on ebay, ali, amazon etc. for p/ns above, 4XC0M95180 or 01AX737 or 01AX760.

Hi below is what smart find shows.

http://accsmartfind.lenovo.com/products/4XC0M95181 for 20HN X270

You can also look at OCM(option compatability matrix)

Another wwan modem is more suitable for Asia Pacific networks and for OP if the real location is Singapore. It's a Sierra Wireless em7430, Lenovo service p/n (FRU) 01AX737 or 01AX760, marketing p/n 4XC0M95180. It supports 6 of 6 LTE frequency bands in Singapore while em7455 works in 4 LTE bands of Singapore networks. Base chip and most rest features of these modems are the same.

Thanks for your help. I am indeed in Singapore.

I have another question though: will any card with same p/n work or I'll need to get from Lenovo? I can't find em7430 on lenovo product page to order, US or Singapore.

Just one more question: If I can't find the antenna cable, it means I can't install the WWAN card, right?

Built-in modem without antennas is useless because of inability to transmit / receive the signal..The antennas are selling with cables soldered.

Yeah I understand that.
Should I be able to find the unconnected wires in my X270 to be attached to the WWAN card? Asking because I can't seem to find them

Edit:

I don't see the blue-orange wire as in this picture csm_internal_d7feb6f371.jpg

I suppose that means my laptop doesn't have the WWAN antenna
