Constant connect/disconnect notification sound

2020-08-11, 20:01 PM

X1 Extreme 2nd Gen

Win10/64

I am getting a connect/disconnect notification sound every 30 seconds. There are no programs running, I have gone through Windows update as well as Lenovo update and this issue persists.

I have disabled notification sounds and this issue persists. It is getting pretty annoying now.

Same problem as you... X1 Extreme Gen 2. Are you receiving both the reconnect and disconnect noise?

I am only getting the disconnect noise and it's roughly every 20 seconds. When I go into device manager the list refreshes every time it makes the noise but I cannot trace the culprit. I have also installed a USB device tracker, however it does not tell me much.

Do you have any USB Devices attached?     If so, try USB Log View from Nirsoft if you have not already and see if it will identify the culprit.

USBLogView v1.26

Best of luck,

Only getting the disconnect sound.

After a reboot it takes about 20 minutes or so for it to start. After it starts, it's every 30 seconds like clockwork. The only thing connected is the power supply and a Bluetooth mouse. The mouse never looses connectivity.

I disabled all startup programs and tried killing background apps and services. Anything that didn't completely render the machine useless. Issue still persists.

Sounds like the problem I am having exactly. I have a Lenovo Bluetooth mouse and Lenovo bluetooth pen connected and power supply. I have attempted to go through device manager and, one by one, disable each component, to the extent practical, to see if the sound or refresh of devices stops, so far no success.

Re:Constant connect/disconnect notification sound

On 8/11 I disabled the UCM-UCSI ACPI Device driver under USB Connector Managers in Device Manager, restarted the machine and the disconnect sound stopped. I left it this way for a day, still was able to plug in USB devices, and I thought I had found the culprit.

The next day (8/12) I re-enabled the driver to see if that was in fact the issue. The machine was quiet up until this afternoon (8/18) when the USB disconnect sound started again every 20-30 seconds.

So again, I have no freaking idea what's causing this. Maybe the machine just needs to be rebooted every few days to reset some counter somewhere in software.

I will also add that this has NOT been an issue until recently. I know MS pushed a Win10 update, so maybe it is coincident with that. Hard to tell since the machine will be quiet for a few days until some counter maxes out.

Apparently no one at Lenovo can explain this.

And, once again, after days of being quiet with the "UCM-USCI ACPI Device" being disabled, the disconnect sound is back. I guess the only choice is to reboot and reset whatever counter needs to be reset.

I have an X1 Extreme Gen 2 with the exact same problem-device disconnect sound every 30 seconds or so with the device manager refresh.

I wish someone would find a fix!

Came across this thread, have the same x1 extreme gen 2, and same annoying problem. First the keyboard, now this.

Loading up the USBview shows nothing while the disconnect sound happens every 20-30sec, yet pluging and unplugging my wireless mouse adapter shows logging as expected.

Lenovo, please fix this issue. its supposed to be extreme in performance, not annoyance.
