Correct order for .cab-files when updating BIOS

2020-09-29, 20:08 PM

Running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on a Lenovo X1 5th gen. Need to update BIOS. I'm on BIOS version 1.06.

BIOS update package n1mul32w.zip (BIOS version 1.48) contains two .cab files:

N1MET63W.cab

N1MHT31W.cab

Instructions in the n1nul32w.txt readme-file says to:

Manual Update Using fwupdmgr

 3. Move to the directory where the cabinet file was placed.

 4. Run fwupdmgr to schedule firmware update.

       # fwupdmgr install xxx.cab

Which .cab-file do I use? If both, which do I run first?

Thanks

1st.. I don't know the answer :(  But - ...63 is the UEFI BIOS firmware, ...31 is the ECP firmware.  From the readme the ECP firmware version hasn't changed for a while and you may not need it.

"FWIW" -> a lot

Thanks, missed that. With your info, I should be able to google myself to nirvana.

Cheers,
