Hi all, hoping for some help.
I have a X230 mounted on its docking station running windows 7 Pro. I have a desktop monitor which is a Samsung SynchmasterSA650 which works fine with the X230 on VG to VGA. I want to run a Toshiba TV in the office for presentations and other large display purposes. The Toshiba only has VGA and HDMI inputs - no DP or DVI. I bought a DP to HDMI cable and have run this from the DP port of docking station to the Toshiba with no success. If I run a VGA cable from the dock to the Toshiba VGA it works (but picture is not sharp). If I run the DP to HDMI cable on a standard PC monitor it doesn't work either. If I run DP to DVI/DVI to DP cables on my Samsung it works. Critically, if I run DP to DVI/DVI to HDMI cables with teh Toshiba it works!
What's the reason for the DP to HDMI straight through cable failure? It just wont work. Tried another cable albeit the same type and no luck there also. But if I split the DP to HDMI cable with a DVI to DVI link it works fine.
