What sort of docking options can i choose for the X200, X200s, X201, X201s?

There are two docking options available for the users of X200, X200s, X201, X201s, X201i, X201si

 

Options 1. X200 Ultrabase

Here are the list of features available on the Ultrabase X200:

 

  • Attach two monitors for multiple monitors by using the DisplayPort and VGA analog video ports. The ThinkPad X200 display is disabled (blank).
  • The X200 UltraBase DisplayPort supports attachment of the following DisplayPort monitor cables:
  • The X200 UltraBase will charge both the installed battery and the battery attached to the charger simultaneously when the AC adapter is plugged into the UltraBase.
  • The integrated second battery charger on the X200 UltraBase allows for charging of the second battery only. It does not function as a supplementary or auxiliary battery for the system.

ThinkPad USB Port Replicator

The ThinkPad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video (45K1610* - United States) provides a quick and easy connection to the workspace peripherals you use every day. Simply plug in the USB cable for access to your monitor, Internet connection/LAN, headphones/speakers, USB printer, keyboard, mouse, and other USB devices.

Features and benefits:

  • Compact and sleek mini-tower design - Reduces footprint on desk.
  • Hot pluggable - Dock and undock, or connect and disconnect, devices without rebooting the system.
  • DVI-I monitor output - Supports the following DVI digital or VGA analog resolutions:

    • Supports lower resolutions at higher refresh rates.
  • Includes a DVI-to-VGA monitor adapter for connecting VGA analog monitors.

      • Monitor attached to the ThinkPad monitor port (2nd monitor)

    • When in extended display mode; users may may choose the ThinkPad system display or the USB Port Replicator external monitor to function as the primary monitor.

Please note the following for the Lenovo Port Replicator:
  • For 1280 x 1024 resolution, the USB Port Replicator operates at the highest supported refresh rate of the attached monitor. For example, a 60Hz-only monitor operates at 60Hz.
  • The following resolutions are not supported. If the monitor operates at one of the following native resolutions, adjust display settings to a supported resolution. Unsupported resolutions include: 1600 x 900, 
  • Also, depending on the resolution output to the external screen connected to the Lenovo Port Replicator and how much data is going through the usb/network ports, there maybe a reduced ability to handle video streaming to the external LCD due to the limited bandwidth of the usb 2.0 connection.
