Re: Docks for X1 Extreme?

As expected, the 40AN dock shows the 230W adapter connected in Vantage. Still running without a lockup since last week. I've also disabled descrete graphics. I had turned it on in hopes of curing the earlier lockups.

Dear Customer,

if you are connecting 135W PSU to Dock and a 100W standard Thunderbolt cable from Dock to system, Dock will report it's a 65W power adapter to system (that's dock design), that's why Vantage display 65W power adapter connected. Dock itself will consume some power.

We recommend you to connect dual power adapter to Dock and bundled combo cable to X1E workstation system to have a reliable performance.

Sincerely yours.

Just fyi for anyone interested in different options. I have a Dell TB16 (180W) that I use with my HP Spectre x360 15t, and I just received my new X1 Extreme..so I tried it out and it does work with all docking station ports but it does NOT charge the laptop. I had to plug in the charger that came with the laptop. If the price of the 40AN0135US comes down a bit, it would be the better option, but you can get a TB16 (used) for about half the price of the Lenovo

I asume you are using Windows as OS?

I also have X1 Extreme and POP_OS! and Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Dock 40AN0230EU but unfortunatelly it doesn't work clean...

it is very buggy...

Unfortunately it seems that way for me that the hybrid dock does not give enough and have two powersources connected as we speak. That said, it only seems to give 35W and not the 65W that is promised, so still hopeful there's a SW solution and I can "release" my travel charger.

Re: Docks for X1 Extreme?

I found a dock that worked immeditly for me (no drivers), drives 3 external displays (though GPU vs Displaylink), charges my Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen2, and I'm using all the USB ports too.

It's called the "TOTU 4K Triple Display USB-C" and is much less expensive option.

Forth one I tried, so I thought I share.

The dock that you are looking for is not compatible with x1 extreme gen2 , if you want to buy a dock which is compatible just try to find from dock finder on Lenovo website
