Driving Dual Monitors / Docking Station - X1 Yoga

Hi,

I don't necessesarily need a docking station, but if it only costs a little more than other solutions to drive 2 monitors then I might as well get a docking station.

What should I look for?  I see there is a Lenovo part I can get (0A33970) used for $60-$70.

Whatever I get I'd want it to be generic enough to use with other laptops I use.

The other laptop I'd want to use it with also has a Thundrebolt port if that makes a difference.  But I think I'd rather have a USB3.0 solution since Thunderbolt is Intel only and I can foresee some AMD Ryzen in my future.

So that Lenovo 0A33970 is a USB3.0 docking station.  Does anyone know if this would work with other devices than Lenovo?  I'm especially curious about the gigabit ethernet port... is this a real network adapter itself over USB or does it somehow do passthrough to the existing network interface on the laptop?

I'm open to non-lenovo solutions as well.
