Erratic mouse behavior

2018-05-24, 7:07 AM

I have a new ThinkPad X1 Yoga 3rd gen and have issues with erratic touchpad and mouse pointer action when undocked.

The pointer suddenly moves up to the browser tabs, opens a new one, just disappears for a few seconds and the like. I have not figured out a systematic behavior yet. I use Vantage to keep drivers updated and they seem to be. And I went through the mouse and touchpad settings and switched off all fancy features that I don't really need.

Anybody experiencing the same or with good advice out there?

I have the exact same problem with my unit! I cannot find a solution. Does anyone have a solution yet for this issue?

Thanks,

Ray

I am having this issue too on a brand new X1 Yoga 3rd gen. It was also happening on my Surface Book 2 and one of the main reasons I got a X1 Yoga as I thought it was bad hardware on my SB2. I notice the issue primarily when using Chrome and doing two finger scrolling. I am running Windows 1809 and the Synaptics driver 19.3.4.216.

I disabled the touch screen and it curred the crazy mouse behavior. Even with the touch screen disabled we the pen still works just fine on the screen. I also opened a support ticket with Lenovo and they say the issue is a defect in the touch screen causing ghost touches. It's a know problem with them. They are shipping out a new screen and a technician to fix it on Wednesday of this coming week. Hopefully this fixes it.

I dont know about that... at least for me... a ghost touch would probably be quick... but my touchpad stops working for more than a moment when the issue is present... also since its happening on a completely different make/model, it leads me to believe it may be a Windows 10 issue or other software... but how the heck do we narrow it down?

This really sounds like the ghost touch problem that a number of us are having.  Check it out over here:
