ExpressCard dummy card to protect left palm rest?

2013-01-15, 4:11 AM

After a few days using a new X230 I noticed the expresscard has a metal frame inside which is now slightly bent, thanks to the palm rest pressure (!?). I opened its door when I noticed there wasn't a plastic holder as in other brand systems I've had (Dell, for example).

I will be calling Lenovo to try and get one, but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem? I may end up having to buy one, but can't seem to find any online. Has anyone obtained this from Lenovo before (or found one somewhere else online)?

I also have this question. I tried using an old spacer from a Dell M1210, but the **** thing got stuck and I had to pull it out by hooking ti with a paper clip. Pushing in further to engage an ejection did nothing. so we would need something that really does fit the right way.

Any ideas guys?

Hi Guys,

For my X220s I use Dell FH196 slot fillers, found on eBay.

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Considering the expensive shipping charges for a piece of plastic (although an important one) I ordered an ExpressCard USB 3 x 2 card which will at least be of some use:

I'll probably go to the local used computers shop to get the holder anyways. Thank you.

Good luck with that. I ordered one of those for my last computer and it just caused BSODs and system hangs. Let us know how it works with the X230 :)
