Re: External mouse randomly freezes when connected via dock

I have the exact same setup except the mouse is one of the new MS Classic IntelliMouse remakes. It also freezes constantly while connected via the dock. If I plug it directly into the X1 it's fine.

Re:External mouse randomly freezes when connected via dock

I have the same problem while connecting the mouse with Philips 346b1c monitor what has a built in USB-c dock. Display and keyboard works fine but the mouse is often stuck for a few seconds and jump to the next place. This doesn't happen when I directly connect the mouse to X1C6 or from dock to other computers. I've reinstalled the drivers for graphics, mouse and thunderbolt but none of those seems to help.

My temporary fix is to change the polling rate of my mouse from 1000Hz to 250Hz. Not ideal but the problem seems to be gone. Hopefully it also solves the problem for you guys...

Having this problem too and it's driving me mad!

Mouse works absolutely fine when plugged into laptop itself - but if plugged in via docking station, KVM  switch or USB hub then it constantly freezes.

Re:External mouse randomly freezes when connected via dock

2020-07-10, 19:47 PM

I recently purchased the ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A Dock for my Thinkpad X1 Extreme

plugged in my two HDMI monitors and USB-dongle for the Microsoft Sculpt  Ergo Keyboard & Mouse along with my Plantronics wired Headset.

everything was working fine for a while then my connection to work dropped and everything else locked up. the laptop keyboard and mouse would not respond.

when i unplugged my mouse and headset from the dock the USB plugs were hot.

i then connected my old USB 2.0 powered Hub and i havent see the freezing/locking up issue for over two hours now.

i was researching other forums and found the following https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/why-does-my-mouse-freeze-when-a-flashdrive-is/7968cea5-bc50-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5?auth=1

Where CyberSam999 discribes and explains what he had disabled "USB selective suspend settings"

when i am done with my work i will reconnect the USB devices to the DOCK and see if that setting works for me.

just wanted to pass on what i had found.

Not sure where Lenovo will need start looking

Same problem here.

G502 through Anker USB 7 Port hub.

Symptoms are the same as everyone else describes.

Same thing is happening to me. Yoga X1 Gen 3 + G502 + ThinkVision p24 usb hub combo.

G502 connected to build-in dock in ThinkVison p24. Mouse is still powered=it's lit but I can't move with the cursor every now and then. Only thing that helps is to pull out the mouse and reconnect it.

When plugged to laptop itself there is no problem.

It's pretty annoying. Is there hope for a solution?

Interference issue. You can try to connect it to a USB 2 cable and move it far away from the dock or just plug it into the laptop.

Exact same issue here, regardless of other hardware.

I have the Lenovo Legion Y530-15ICH and both the mouse and keyboard experience this issue when connected to the laptop via a USB-C docking station.

It appears that it may be a bandwidth issue with the Lenovo USB-C port. I tend to notice the issue consistently when downloading files from the internet or transferring files from a USB drive. It seems as though the USB-C can't handle the passing of video, audio, data, internet traffic, keyboard/mouse I/O, etc. all at the same time.

The laptop is completely unusable in these situations and Lenovo's refusal to address the issue in over a year has solidified my decision to never buy from them again.

The way I solved the problem was plugging my accessories into the laptop itself.  This wasn't a workable long-term solution since I need to undock frequently.  So I replaced the dock with a ThinkPad Pro.  No problems with the new dock.
