Re: External mouse randomly freezes when connected via dock

I have the same problem when using the T480 and the Pro Dock (135W). I have no choice but to connect my wired mouse directly to the laptop. If anyone knows of a fix or a better workaround, I'd appreciate it.

I am having the same problem as described in this thread.  My setup is a new T480 with a USB-C Gen 2 dock (Windows 10).  No problems when connecting mouse and keyboard directly to laptop.  Intermittent freezing when connecting them to the dock.  My mouse (wired) and keyboard are older Dells.  Only my external monitor is hooked to the dock now.

I have the exact same problem. Equipment:

Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th Gen

Windows 10 Pro 1903

Thinkpad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A Dock

Generic Dell 6-button wired USB laser mouse

Latest drivers available on Lenovo's site for everything.

Mouse works perfectly when plugged directly into the laptop. When plugged into any USB port on the dock, the cursor will freeze for ~1s every 20-30s. Video and audio do not freeze during this time. I have also tried a Thinkpad USB-C Dock and other wired USB mice which exhibit the exact same behavior.

I registered just to post that I have this same problem. I have updated all drivers, bios, fw. I tried updating the logitech FW since an earlier post said that fixed it, but the logitech gaming software says it's up to date. When connected directly, it works fine.

X1C6 (Win 10)

USB Hub in Dell Monitor s2716dg

Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum RGB

When using this same setup on a Dell Latitude 5500, no issues with the hub.

Just to chime in on this as well - two different USB C hubs, and in this case I'm using it only for the mouse and an iPhone charger over USB

Mouse still freezes every 10-15 seconds

leaving only mouse and Ethernet connected, I get freezes in exactly the same way

I replaced my USB-C Gen 2 dock with the ThinkPad Pro Docking Station.  I've been using the Pro for a week with no problems.

Hello.

Can you try to update the latest driver and FW version of the Logitech G402 mouse? We found the same issue with Logitech G502 mouse   via USB-C dock on X1 carbon 6th,but can not duplicate issue after update the mouse FW. The latest FW version is 88.2.17.

Please download the latest driver and FW version with the following link:

http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/g502-proteus-spectrum-rgb-gaming-mouse/getting-started

My Logitech software remains with up-to-date version 88.2.17 as of this post. Did not resolve issue.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Same problem here, since we bought the laptop whenever connected with a dock.

Mouse doesn't matter. But ours is an old Logitech G502

Dock doesn't matter, as others have noted. But ours is the DELL U2415 Monitor's USB dock.

To reiterate that the dock doesn't matter, we use the mouse THROUGH the same monitor dock with another old laptop, and it never has this issue. I can stream a movie or transfer a large file from an external HDD connected to the dock, and the mouse/keyboard never ever have a single second of an issue/flickering, all passed through the monitor's dock. But connected to the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Gen, the mouse will only intermittently work.

Very frustrating.

SOMETIMES the mouse works flawlessly for anywhere from a minute to an hour. At other times it will only last a few seconds before freezing.

Fortunately, when the laptop is on our desk connected to the larger monitor, the monitor has a single 'extra' USB port conveniently on the back and to the left -- so it's not THAT much of a pain to disconnect/connect it to the laptop's left USB port. But it's still a pain, and would be unnecessary if Lenovo (or Microsoft) would fix this software/OS issue.

Finally, I echo Stevo's comment:

. . . It's maddening because it doesn't happen all the time — just a lot.
