Factory reset

2009-04-08, 21:46 PM

Hey,

I just got a lenovo X60s laptop second hand and it came with a fresh install of vista basic but it had no preloaded software, not even the drivers and i can't seem to find a recovery partition to get to start a factory reset. So i installed ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery and the factory reset option isn't there, there's only a full restor option which asks for a previous backup which i don't have. So what can i do to get a factory reset? with all the preloaded software on it?

Thank you in advance.

The laptop probably got wiped and have an aftermarket Vista basic installed.

There is several options for you right now:

1. Buy a new external burner and call Lenovo and pay 50 USD for a set of rescue and recovery discs.

2. Continue using your existing Vista Basic, and just download the drivers one by one from the net and install them as need be.

thanks, i think i'm going to buy the CD's because i would like to install linux on the computer and still have the option to go back and restore it to factory settings. Why would i need the DVD burner?

you would need the external usb dvd reader to use those discs, and it is probably not that much less than a dvd burner.
