Fingerprint scanner is not working after windows update - Lenovo X1 Yoga.
In device manager I can see that there is corrupt type symbol for Biometric Devices -> Synaptic WBDI(SGX Enabled)
I tried updating all the drivers, also uninstallated and reinstalled this particular driver but no luck.
Please help. Thanks.

For some reason the spring creators update 1803 corrupts the fingerprint reader installation. Fortunately, the fix is easy. Just reinstall the driver (or rather "update", there was a recent update). It should fix the problem.
Note you will need to reboot after the installation. It will not prompt you to do this, but the fingerprint reader will not work unless you reboot.
(this was observed, tested and fixed on an X1 Yoga (2nd gen))

I have a X! Yoga 1st. gen running Win 10 and recently updated my my OS to Windows 10, version 1803. Now my Synaptic Fingerprint reader does not work anymore. I checked in Device Manager and it shows as unrocognized. I've updated my BIOS, reninstalled the finger print reader driver, and reinstalled the Synaptic fingerprint reader pro software Still the same problem.

I had the same issue on a brand new Thinkpad P71 20HK an nothing of the above worked. I then uninstalled the fingerprint reader device in device manager then deleted the folders under Crivers/WIN, there were two, and proceeded with check for hardware changes in device manager. This reinstalled the old driver and the fingerprint reader worked again perfectly and even remembered my previously stored prints. Now the driver update for the fingerprint reader reapeared under optional updates JUST DONT INSTALL IT. Hopefully future updates wont have this problem.
