Foreign body between the protective screen and display.

2011-09-21, 10:29 AM

Hello.

I have just received a laptop x220 as a gift and immediately revealed a defect in the display. It looks like a foreign body between the protective screen and display(look at the picture). As far as I know, this is a warranty case, but the situation is complicated, because in the next three years I'll be in China. What can I do? Where can I replace the display in China? In Harbin?

To obtain warranty in China you would need to confirm that the laptop has warranty in China.

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-service/iws.page

then you must note the following:

China : Customers requiring International Warranty Service in China may be asked to provide one of the following in order to obtain IWS warranty repair service; proof of company identification (company letter, email, business card, company badge with photo ID), proof of purchase (purchase receipt, official order, delivery note, sales memo, or invoice), and/or proof of travel (passport with valid Visa to or from country where product was purchased, or other travel documents).

Hi, I still can't get the international warranty service. I have recently talked to a representative at the China Lenovo Warranty Service and I was told I needed the following documents: proof of purchase; proof of delivery (from the U.S. to China); and the identification of the person who has purchased the laptop for me in the U.S.
I have all the documents except for the identification of the person who has purchased the laptop for me. I have all the information that confirms that I am the owner of the laptop (tracking numbers with zip codes of the person, order confirmation order and so on) but I still cannot get the international warranty service (which is included in the price!!). I find this situation a little ridiculous!

There is nothing that can be done, as this is a set policy to prevent people from getting grey import machines to sell in China. Price disparity between a similar configured Thinkpads in China and USA, can be as much as 70%.
