Found “A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing” when installing Window 7 64bit.

2012-08-24, 2:12 AM

Hello,

I just bought X220i with Core i-3, ram 8G. When I tried to install Window 7 64bit (Coz of Ram 8G), I got the message “A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing...”. I did browse the driver (using USB 3 Driver) but, it didn't work.

Any idea to resolve?

Thanks in advance.

hi.

to make sure that you got a good transfer, you may wish to compare the sha1 checksum of the file you downloaded to the published value on the website NINE provided.

there a number of free applets available. i like this one: http://raylin.wordpress.com/downloads/md5-sha-1-checksum-utility/

cheers.

hi apichartl,

Thanks for posting. Was readingthrough your thread and was wondering about the message that appeared. Did this happen after you installed the RAM and booted into windows again or when you ran the widows 7 disk to install the OS. I'm wondering because I trying a full understanding of what exactly happened here.

Do let me know and let me look into this for you

What media are you using to install win 7?  USB DVD drive, flash drive, ???  Downloaded ISO or Lenovo or Microsoft DVD?

One reason (of many) you can get this error message is bad media - corrupt download, bad burn, defective flash or optical media.  I've also heard of problems with USB ports causing this.  If you're using USB media, have you tried another port?

And as NINE asked, when in the process do you get this error?

Hi, thanks for reply.

I used DVD writted from Downloaded ISO.

I am not sure if it is the cause. I downloaded the ISO from website, some kind of www . digitallife . com. When I burned it to CD, the NERO warned me that there was an error about size of file that might not be calculated correctly. I finally ignored and burned the CD.

Another hint is, I opened the ISO file from WinRAR, I could see only one text file. Also, when I open DVD and tried to copy from DVD to Flash Drive, i cannot.

So, do you guess that it is because of Correupt Download? ? ?

Thanks

hi apichartl,

Thanks for updating. Based from what your saying there is a huge possibility that you have corrupt download or during the burning process the one of the files may not have burned properly causing this effect. You may want to download the image agage but from another source possibly. I've added a link for you below to a few site that are trusted. Alot of people download their image from Digital rivers. You may want to try it out.

Do give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Hello All,

I have done already. The cause, as I think, is due to Window 7 downloaded. I got another CD from friend and worked great.

Thanks for help.
