[HELP] X260 won't boot after cleaning CPU Fan

2020-06-02, 22:22 PM

My X260 fan was getting noisy so I tried cleaning it a bit: opened up the case, removed fan, cleaned it with compressed air, mounted it back and it would not boot after. The system beeps a code but I can't translate what it means.

I am not sure if I damaged the fan or if I damaged the fan connector at the MB. I can't really figure out what is going on and to be honest I do not think I did anything wrong with the rest of the laptop - I only touched the fan.

Anyone with more experience could she some light? This is a great little laptop and I don't want to waste it because of a silly mistake.

The forum won't let me attach the audio recording of the system beeping while trying to boot. I suspect the beeps do mean something.

Thanks in advance,

BB

Hi,

I think your model predates error tones - sort of a "song" and just uses beeps.  Most of the beep codes are described on page 38 of the HMM:
