Harddisk driver for installation of Windows 8 on X270

2017-11-07, 18:17 PM

I'm trying to install Windows 8 on my X270 20HN.

My BIOS setup is default, except that I disabled Secure Boot and changed UEFI/Legacy Boot to Both (instad of UEFI Only) to make the PC able to boot from my Windows 8 installation USB disk.

The Windows Installation window starts up perfectly, and I'm able to confirm the EULA.

When I choose custom (advanced) installation there is no partisions / disks shown.

Only "update", "disk settings" and "load driver" buttons are shown, and an error message saying:

"No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation"

I have tried to download all drivers from the Storage tab on the following page, unzipped them and added them to the USB stick:

However, the Windows Installation cannot find any drivers.

What should I do to get the Windows Installation tool find the drives?

What drivers should I use, if I need to provide them manually?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Kind regards,

Hi NDBDK, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

I'm curious why you are trying to install Windows 8 on a Kaby Lake machine, where it is not supported?

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!
