Have Lenovo thinkpad x201

2019-02-13, 3:54 AM

Hello all,

I am trying to get to the recovery disk in order to reformat the laptop.   When I restart my laptop I hit F11 and nothing.   I also have pressed the ThinkVantage button.  Aftewards a prompt comes up and when I select F11,  it will take me to the black screen, hit F1 and goes into Bios.  I do have both the recovery partititions but I cannot access them.    I am willing to buy the recovery discs if needed.

Thanks,

Mario

Hi Marsbars,

Or will you consider a fresh installation with Win10? I saw cases dealing with recovery partition on X200 series ThinkPad and often failed. Alternatively, download Win10 onto an USB stick and install it on your X201 may comparatively easier.

Say, an Intel Core i5-520M with OEM Win7 Pro, should be fine to run Win10 and enjoy free upgrade.
