Re:High CPU Usage After Waking From Sleep - System.exe using 30%+ CPU (SeAccessCheckWithHint+0x1c620)

2021-02-18, 17:33 PM

I have this same issue, but a Dell XPS 2-in-1.  I have a USB-C dock connected and that has both an HDMI monitor and an external USB webcam.  My behavior is exactly the same as described - high system.exe CPU only after sleep that is resolved after a reboot.  Keep me in the loop!

Still seeming to be experiencing the same issue.  We have now applied another "new" BIOS update from Dell as well as the latest Intel Graphics Driver package (only other driver that was newer than the Dell releases) and also have changed to a 3rd dock (now a Thunderbolt dock) and the same high CPU issue seems to be occurring when waking the laptop up from a Suspend / Connected Standby while still on AC power.

Yes we are having the same issue but with an HP Elitebook x360 g7.   Core i5 10210u.  Windows 20h2 and latest bios.   External usb cam and monitor connected via hdmi.  Windows performance analyzer seems to point to usbvideo.sys.  And the system process cpu climbs and the system must be rebooted about every 8-12 hours to remain functional

please keep me posted with what you learn.  Thanks!

I am amused to find that described as “on it’s own “ lol

For additional transparency:

edogwv thread at HP.com - https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-Notebooks/HP-Elitebook-x360-830-G7-high-CPU-usbvideo-sys/td-p/7982846

sff thread at Microsoft.com - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-20h2-wakes-from-sleep-with-30-80-cpu/9964c808-8474-4b87-82e5-516e43424a7f

We have ordered up another XPS 13 w/ slightly newer specs and are testing again as we add devices, software, etc. to see if we can pinpoint when it starts failing (if it does).  The new one has *thus far* woken correctly each time.

After some debugging, it looks like it is related to Cisco Webex Meetings for me.

High CPU usage is suggestive of problems best corrected by resetting windows

I own: T400 T500 X220 running Windows 10 x64 & My X230 runs Linux for my webserver. I also own an Apple MacBook along with an iPad Pro 12.9", both with 256GB SSD

I registered just to make sure to reply that this was 100% the issue for me.

After struggling with this for days I saw this and forgot completely I had webex meetings installed.

As soon as I removed it, the CPU graph I was watching dropped right back to normal and it's been there ever since.

So i had two issues - the first was the CPU % and lately when i have tried my system just shuts off and when I come back to my PC it is off and it says it shut down due to memor y usage.  IT is a Dell Precision 7750.  I tried disabling startup for webex meetings and it did not resolve the latter issue.  Guess sleep is dead for my PC.

Thank you so much !! I had the same problem with high CPU usage on a Surface Pro 6 for months.. Tried everything that was suggested but nothing worked. It seems that it is indeed the Cisco webex meeting process. As soon as you kill it in the process manager CPU usage gets back to normal without restart or anything..! Thank you!
