Hotkeys and Yoga X1 Windows 10

I am working on a Lenovo X1 Yoga 2nd Gen and I can't get the extended function keys to work.  F1-5 work just fine, but F6-12 should be activating the relevant items in the action center.  I can see, and use, the action center items just fine.  Things that have been suggested that I have tried:  Updating the BIOS, reinstalling the power management driver, reinstalling the hotkey application.  None of these things have brought back those keys.  Using the original system for reference, I notice that in the keyboard properties window, there is a third tab that says "Fn and function keys".  That tab is missing on the newly loaded system, but I cannot figure out what installs it.  Help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Re: Hotkeys and Yoga X1 Windows 10

Dear mwingeier,

in order to request development team to investigate your symptom, I'd like to know below information;

- OS version

- BIOS version

- Power management driver version

- Hotkey application version

You can visit Lenovo Settings and check below items in order to change the top-row keyboard behavior

   1. Click "Input" icon ( keyboard and mouse icon at most left )

   2. Go down to "KEYBOARD: TOP-ROW" section

   3. You can switch Special function and F1-F12 function by on click.

   4. Click Advanced Settings, it can changes default settings of F1-F12 keys and Fn key combinations

Re: Hotkeys and Yoga X1 Windows 10

Can you please try this version of hotkeys?

software:  https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1qvu92w.exe

readme:  https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1qvu92w.txt

This is the latest version, but for some reason, it can't be found on the support website when you browse drivers & software for X1 Yoga 2nd gen.

Everything is working for me here when I use this version of hotkeys:

1.  clean-install Win10 x64 1703

2.  connect to internet

3.  run Windows Update, repeat until no more updates

4.  download and install n1qvu92w.exe from above URL

Re: Hotkeys and Yoga X1 Windows 10

That is the version I have been using.  Unfortunately, clean installs are not possible, I must use the corporate image.  Oddly enough, it does not work when running under the built in admin account after the image boots up.  I have to log in as a user, and then reinstall the power management driver and the hotkey application.  Then, most of the time, it works.

Re: Hotkeys and Yoga X1 Windows 10

How are you deploying your image?  SCCM, MDT, or something else?

Re: Hotkeys and Yoga X1 Windows 10

The images are deployed using LANDesk provisioning.

Re: Hotkeys and Yoga X1 Windows 10

Can you check if following directory exists after the LANDesk deployment?

C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Hotkey

There should be 70+ files in this directory...

Also, does pressing CapsLock key show any icon on the screen?

Files do not exist in that directory, nor do they exist after I reinstall it by means of another user account and it works.  Caps lock does not show an on screen overly, but those keys have lights.

Re: Hotkeys and Yoga X1 Windows 10

It is not possible for hotkeys to work when files are not installed in that folder.  My advice is for you to take a clean install of Win10 + drivers + software and use that as a reference, then figure out how/why your LanDesk provisioning goes wrong.

Re: Hotkeys and Yoga X1 Windows 10

Then thank you for your time.  My two lab machines have hotkeys working just fine without anything in those folders, I just have to install the drivers as a user and elevate to admin instead of the built in admin.
