How capable is X1's cooling design? Replace thermal paste beneficial?

2018-03-11, 19:25 PM

I was wondering if replace stock thermal paste to Grizzly liquid metal on X1 6th gen will help with CPU throttling. How good is Thinkpad’s cooling mechanism compare to other brands?

I read the new Dell XPS 13 had to redesign their cooling to accommodate Intel 8th gen quad core CPUs. On the other hands, LG Grams carried the single pipe / fan design from their previous generation and it performed poorly.

Also, gallium in liquid metal thermal compound tend to alloy to copper heat sink over time. It cause copper base to change color. Will this void my warranty?
