How to NOT brick my new X1C (6)?

New computer is out for delivery today, and I want to make sure it is on the latest firmware to solve the sleep bug and whatnot. However, I have seen reports of certain drivers/firmwares bricking the laptop. Is there an updated list of safe updates to install, or bad ones to look out for?

Also, is it still a good idea to wipe and reinstall Windows on new computers? Haven't gotten a new one in almost 5 years now.

Re: How to NOT brick my new X1C (6)?

I don't know about the first question, but as to the second, the Lenvo default install seems to be no more crowded than the usual Windows install (e.g, some "free games" that MSFT now loads onto new Windows installs). It takes some time to setup, even after you've first logged onto the desktop (a lot of components and apps finish setting up in the background).
