How to disable selective USB suspend and maximize performance when docked?

2021-04-16, 16:59 PM

Hi,

I (as probably many others) use a ordinary camera via a capture card for remote meetings. In my case a Canon EOS-M6 mrk II and Elgato Cam link 4K.
I got problems in MS Teams with freeze, and I strongly believe it has something to do with power saving on USB ports.

In windows 10 control panel for "energy" I cant change from balance to.. anything else. And I defenitly cant find the setting for disabling selective USB suspend - probably because Lenovo vantage has taking over? I have tryed to connect the Cam link both via dock and directly to laptop.

My setup:

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 5 (with a Lenovo thinkpad thunderbolt 3 dock gen 2)
Windows 10 pro 20H2, 19042.928

Hello Daddy Cool Swe,

Welcome to Lenovo Community

Kindly follow the steps on how to turn off selective usb suspend.

-Open Control Panel.
-Click on Hardware and Sound.
-Click on Power Options.
-Under "Preferred plan," click the Change plan settings link for the plan you're currently using.

(If you change the settings on the power plan that isn't active, this won't work.)
-Click the Change advanced power settings link.
-Expand USB settings, then expand USB selective suspend setting.
-Select Disable from the drop-down menu.
-Click Apply, then hit OK.

If you're changing the settings on a laptop or tablet, you'll see two options: On Battery and Plugged in, so make sure to change those settings accordingly.

You may also try creating your own power plan wherein you can customize these settings.

Hope this helps

Regards,
Lorenzo_Lenovo

Thank you so much for replying, unfortunately that doesn't work for me.

When I go to [power options] in control panel, I have only one plan; balanced. Further more, when I klick the [Change plan settings] link, and after that the [Change advanced power settings] link, there are only four options (in that "three"); settings for desktop background, powersaving, monitor and battery.
And in the drop down box again, I have only one plan; balanced.

PS. I use a Swedish Win 10, so Im kind of guessing what English names things have in Windows.
