Hello Godwing,

Welcome to Lenovo Community

Here's how to disable the SATA
Go to BIOS
Locate the SATA settings option it should be under the “Configuration” tab
Select the SATA setting and change the value to “Disable.”
Save and exit

Hello Lorenzo,

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, I do not have this item in the BIOS.

There is: Config > Serial ATA (SATA) > SATA Controller Mode Option > AHCI or Compatibility

I have v1.46 modified Bios by ValdikSS:
- Whitelist removal
- Unlocked AES-NI on "no-encryption" machines
- Unlocked hidden advanced menu
- Unlocked memory speed (supports DDR3 1600 and 1866)
- Disabled package c-state lock at MSR 0xE2 (for Hackintosh)
- Re-signed with custom key to get rid of 5 beeps on boot

I've searched everywhere for the SATA settings option, but I can't find it.

I have v1.46 modified Bios by ValdikSS:

Then it's unsupported. It may also lack certain features that Lenovo added after ValdikSS modified it.

In any case, you can remove the existing SSD in the mSATA slot. You can also specify in BIOS the order in which storage devices are checked for the boot image when the system is rebooted. Make sure the mSATA drive is below whichever drive you want to boot from.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I cannot get the mSATA drive out as I spent 2 weeks installing it due to the bent pins on the motherboard slot.
I want to find a way to disable mSATA via BIOS. This is necessary not only for installing the OS.

Is it possible to somehow find such an opportunity in BIOS ValdikSS, because it has advanced features?

Well if you're using a third party BIOS then perhaps contact that party to ask if they can help.

Hi guys,
I have a modified BIOS v1. 46.
When I tried to install the official v1. 46, it refused, because of the version match.

What can I finally do to get the item in the BIOS - disable SATA?

Is there something like “Allow Flashing BIOS to a Previous Version”  or "Bios Back Flash" in your current BIOS? (I realize the links are for non-ThinkPad models.)

If so perhaps that will let you install the new BIOS.

Or perhaps you can use the setting to allow a flash back to an earlier BIOS then flash again to the one you want.

Thank you, hausman.

I installed the official v1. 43, but the menu item to disable SATA did not appear. I have the default BIOS settings.

How to restore the menu item in the BIOS - "disable SATA"?
