How to turn off completely the keyboard backlight on X1 Yoga?

2021-02-21, 15:02 PM

Hi

I would like to turn off the keyboard backlight on my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga completely. The option should be shown when I click on the green battery symbol, but it doesn't show the option for keyboard light, even if I go to details, the symbols are not clickable. I do need to turn it off manually whenever I open the device. Please advice.

I know how to use those buttons to switch between the modes, but the issue is that whenever I turn it off, close my laptop and open it again, the backlight is automatically on. I want it to be permanently off. It gets back into auto mode, when I open the device.

Kindly try this:

1. Go to Lenovo Settings.

2. Click the keyboard/mouse icon on the left side toolbar.

3. Select the off icon.

That should set the backlighting off by default.

It may still come on temporarily during a reboot, but you will still be able to turn it on manually.

This one is the only place where an icon shows up and it's not clickable

And here, it doesn't show up:

Hello Langirt,

Have you tried to disable-enable the keyboard?
You may also try to uninstall the keyboard driver, completely remove it from the system.
Then go to support site, download and install a fresh copy.

Update us how it goes
