How to turn on the wi-fi on x121e without Thinkpad power management driver.

The onscreen function key features generally depend on that driver. The thing is on my netbook the driver causes USB devices to fail after a few hibernations. Anybody in the know? Thanks.

Power Manager is the only software to view wireless device setting.

Install new version of Power Manager and also update the BIOS for the USB issue

Download Power Manager software from the mentioned below web link.

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8mu417ww.exe

BIOS update can be download from the mentioned below web link.

Best Regards,

Tanuj

Thanks. However, I've determined the culprit to be the Power Manager driver, not the Power Manager utility. The problem occurs under the latest version of it. The Bios update comes up with: BIOS image file is same as BIOS rom. An update is no necessary at this time. Still lost, looking for answers, hoping a day comes I buy an electronic device and it just works instead of my wasting days trying to get it to...

I also installed the utility http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8mu417ww.exe

without the Power Manager driver and got Lenovo Power Controls in Control Panel, which is useless to me. It seems my only choice is:

A: Have the wi-fi at the cost of malfunctioning USB following a few hibernations (which also culminates in an extremely slow system shutdown).

B: Forget the wi-fi and have the working USB

C: Let the newly purchased Lenovo junk swim in Thames ( despite being eco-unfriendly, probably the most economical option.)

D: Purchase a USB wi-fi dongle and have it nicely dangle from the X121e. Send Lenovo a reimbursement form for that since the culprit is their buggy software.
