How to use Special Characters?(Alt Codes) w/o numpad key

2014-12-13, 2:33 AM

Usually you would hold the alt key and use the num pad keys to enter the number codes, then release the alt to get the special character.

we do not have a numpad on the x1, so how do we do this?

I have tried using the normal numbers at the top of the keyboard, does not work.

I am using 4th gen x1

Hello,

As a workaround, have you tried using the Character Map (filename: CHARMAP.EXE) program which comes with Microsoft Windows, and copy and paste the characters you need from it?

Regards,

Where is the NumLock Key - How to simulate it?

2014-12-15, 19:17 PM

I need access to special characters which usually you would activate using NumLock followed by numeric keys, however the x1 4th gen doesnt have a NumLock key.

What can I do?

Regards

There is no NumLock.

What application are you trying to us NumLock in? What exactly are you trying to type?

Dear "Crazy Volunteer," thank you for volunteering.

I too would like to know a workaround for having no numberlock key.

I have Flex 3-1470

In Word, email, excel, etc I'd like to be eable to access the cents-sign, the degree-sign, etc, which Iused to do easiy with the Alt-codes.

thank you

I am new to this forum so hope I'm following rules "right.."
