IBM ThinkPad x30: cannot undock docking station

2019-03-11, 3:35 AM

I decided to experiment with Ubuntu on an old IBM X30 laptop, which has not been actively used for a long time. I tried to undock the docking station from the start menu of Windows (I need to replace the hard drive) - it demanded to set the hibernation mode. Installed, but when it overloaded to sleep mode, the computer shuts down and does not return to operating mode.

I remembered that the battery was disconnected in the laptop, found and connected it to the docking station (there is also a connector for the battery). I tried to charge it, but the charge lasts for 10-20 seconds of the computer running from the battery (the voltmeter shows ~ 10 V on the battery, as it should be).

In the laptop there is a lever for undocking the docking station, but it does not work. Apparently the only way to undock the docking station => from Windows.

Please tell me how to undock the docking station in this situation?
Is it possible to power the laptop from an external power supply during hibernation? - only in order to undock the docking station.
