Installation Windows 7 32 bit on Lenovo X270 20HN0016GE - Is it possible?

2017-05-23, 13:50 PM

Hello together,

We want to install Windows 7 32 bit on a Lenovo X270 20HN0016GE.

Questions:

1. Is it possible to install Windows 7 32 bit on such new Lenovo notebooks?

2. Which BIOS configurations we have to configure, that we could install Windows 7?

We would be very thankful, if someone helps us.

Yours faithfully,

trapt

Hi trapt,

That model has a 7th Generation Intel processor and Windows 10 is the only version supported by Microsoft, Intel, and Lenovo.

If you must run Windows 7 on an X270, get one with a 6th Generation Intel processor - there are models listed in the PSREF.

If you must try Windows 7 on that exact model, you will see driver, problems, update problems, and you will not benefit from the new features of the 7th Generation processor, at least.

Hope this helps!

I would too would not recommend trying either as it would cause you nothing but problems, not to mention that the 32-bit OS would not address over 4GB of RAM.

Most all application written for Windows 7 will run fine, if not better, under Windows 10, and if you just want to keep the familiar Windows 7 Start Menu etc,  a free program called Classic Shell can bring back the familiar Windows 7 look and feel to Windows 10.

Cheers,
