Intel 965 dual-link DVI support on X6?

2008-03-03, 12:37 PM
Hello!

I'm having a hard time determining whether or not the Intel 965 Express Chipset (such as in a 7674 - 4NG) supports dual-link DVI.

The reason for my asking is that a client of mine would like to use two widescreen monitors connected to the X6x Ultrabase, using Matrox TripleHead2Go. (http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/th2go/digital/home.php) (Yes, I know there's a DualHead, but it's out of stock, and apparently time's a factor for the client.)

In order to run 2 monitors at 1680x1050, the graphic card has to support dual-link DVI. Since there's no DVI-connection on the X61 or the Ultrabase, and I haven't found anything regarding this on Intel's website or the graphics driver itself, I hope there's someone here that might shed some light on this issue.

Anyone got a clue?

Best regards
Bob Lydan

I'll answer my own question, in case anyone else should be interested.

Answer from Intel Technical Support:
"The Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family currently does not support Dual-Link DVI."

So there ya go :smileyhappy:
