Intel My Wifi Adapter Not Found after update--cannot restore it

2012-09-13, 0:57 AM

After a Lenovo update of wifi components, I can no longer enable Intel My Wifi Technology. Solutions I have tried so far:

-Uninstalling Intel ProSet/Wireless software and Intel Widi and reinstalling with latest versions from Intel website (installing Proset first, then Widi, with reboots in between)

-Reinstalling latest Wireless LAN driver from Lenovo

-Accessing ProSet/Wireless from uninstall program list, click change/next/change, removing My Wifi fromProSet features; reinstalling My Wifi to ProSet features.

Icon in tray continues to say:"Intel My Wifi Technology: Adapter not Found"

Intel My Wifi Utility is only option available on clicking icon (all others greyed out). Utility is set to Enable on Startup and to Never Disconnect.

Never had a problem with it until a few days ago. Even tried a system restore to before the Lenovo update, with no luck. Anyone have other ideas for me?

Hi lectrolink,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community,

I'm really sorry to hear about the wireless issues your facing and I hope we get this sorted out for you. Based on your post there maybe some conflict in the software that needs some adjustment. However in order for me to assist you further could you let me which machine you currently have?

From there it would be easier for me to determined which specific drivers you may need.

Do let me know.

regards

Hi lectrolink,

thanks for posting. You might want to check if your adapter services is started in the services menu. In order to confirm the service, you'll need to go to,

START > CONTROL PANEL > ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS > SERVICES

Once the services menu is open, scroll all the way down and look for "WLAN AutoConfig" and doulble click it until a new window opens.

One the "WLAN AutoConfig window is open you'll be able to "Service status" in the centre of the screen (Highlighted in Yellow). Ensure that the service is started by pressing the start button.

Hope this helps and do let us know of the update.,

regards

I followed your instructions and the WLAN Auto Config status was already "Started" when I opened it. Only the stop button was available, as in your illustration.

Next thing to check, please?

Hi lectrolink,

sorry I took so long to reply, was checking up on your case and was in the device manager does your wireless network adapter shows any indication of it being disabled? Another thing, is that do you have the Lenovo Access connection installed on your machine.

Do let me know.

Regards
