Is EM7455 compatible with x1 carbon gen6?

Sorry to hijack this thread but I have a similar issue.  I bought the X1 Carbon 6th Gen and accidentally didn't order it with the WWAN option.  I have a 5th Gen with the EM7455.  Do you know offhand if the EM7455 will work in the 6th Gen (running Linux)?

Re: Is EM7455 compatible with x1 carbon gen6?

Do you mean approved wireless devices white list in the BIOS or common hardware compatibility?

Re: Is EM7455 compatible with x1 carbon gen6?

Sorry to hijack thread.  I actually have same question but for windows 10.  Can the EM7455 work in either x1 carbon 6th gen or x1 yoga 3rd gen?  Will it fit?  Will it work?  What about BIOS whitelist?

Re: Is EM7455 compatible with x1 carbon gen6?

Regarding x1c gen6:
officially, Lenovo branded Sierra EM7565 and Fibocom L850-GL wwan cards only are approved, not Sierra em7455 one. The cards have different USB IDs, they should be stored in the white list. Mechanically, electrically the cards are compatible with x1c gen6 m.2 wwan slot. The news that might look as a good one: I haven't found the wireless devices white list in x1c gen6 BIOS. So, em7455 might work either in terms of wl. Newer cards (FRU 01AX746 and 01AX748) have more chances to work. Anyway, there might be another ways to limit of approved wwan cards usage only. Though, wlan cards weren't white listed in ThinkPads since x50 generation.

Possible restriction is FCC regulations for laptop with approved wwan cards only.

x1 yoga gen3.
Approved wwan card is Fibocom L850-GL only. I didn't check out its BIOS whitelist.
