Is there a version of Lenovo Vantage which doesn't have all the %^@$#! ads?

2019-09-06, 11:13 AM

Every time I load Vantage it shows graphics and ads and recommendations and god knows what.  Is there a stripped version somewhere?  Is there a secret control panel which will let me selectively disable "features" of Vantage? This is pretty hellish to use.

malwarebytes can clean that up

No, it is inherent to Vantage and is within the Vantage program itself.

It's like some sort of joke.  This is a top-end commerical machine: Why the *&^# is it advertising Alexa to me?

If you want you can go back to the old version of Vantage.  See below.

I ended up removing Vantage - didn't not see an upside in keeping it.

Also, 90% of the time, it did not detect the newer drivers eventhough clearly the website was showing a newer driver version available for download than what was installed on the machine

Vantage runs about 2-3 weeks behind the support site for drivers.  I don't speak for Lenovo but I think they do this in case there is an issue with the update they don't want mass amounts of people installing it.  Even this doesnt catch all issues.  I know there was a issue with a hotkey driver issue last year i believe or power manager I don't remember.

If Vantage doesn't do anything, then I'll just delete it.

And FWIW, even the enterprise version has the ads--and the zip file download did not have any instructions for how to delete them using GP editor

I ended up installing the enterprise version of vantage to get rid of all the adware like mcaffe and dash lane vpn or whatever... note that it is an older version (aka not the newest version of vantage so it starts slow, but who cares, i only want to have it for battery gauge and checking for updates anway)

easy to install, works great, no adware. Lenovo, you need to get your **bleep** togehter, why advertise spam to your costumers? Stop it.
